Denver Justice High School (DJHS) is looking for a Social Studies teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This position starts in August of 2026.
Our Mission Statement
Denver Justice High School’s mission is to provide a college preparatory education for all enrolled students. Justice High School targets students who are chronically truant, have been unsuccessful in the traditional school setting, or who have been involved in the criminal justice system. Denver Justice High is a place where “At-risk” youth can become successful “youth of promise” by being given high standards, opportunities and an environment which cultivates growth and learning. Central to these objectives is a focus on individual student's empowering other students to see the importance of the educational process.
The school utilizes high academic standards, tutoring and exceptional staff that create a diverse learning atmosphere which encourages acceptance and compassion for all human beings. Every child has a talent or an interest that, if nourished and encouraged, will result in excellence. Achieving excellent results gives hope and builds confidence. Denver Justice High School strives to take youth who have been labeled and believe they are “at-risk” into youth who believe they are truly “youth of promise”. We do this by providing each student with the opportunity to grow into respectful adults who have knowledge, will, and the self-esteem to succeed in college and in life.
Position
Teaching Social Studies at DJHS requires that the teacher be a facilitator as the students make connections between their world and surroundings and history and context. Critical thinking is a skill that all students should have and develop, and an active social studies curriculum only aids in making this flourish. To view the world through a different lens, to understand the past, to make sense of the role of government to create aware citizens that are curious and critical of the world around them - this is the task of the social studies teacher.
